The first Pils was brewed more than 150 years in Vilshofen.
Josef Groll (1813 – 1887) from Vilshofen in Lower Bavaria was the person who first brewed in Pilsen in Bohemia on 5th October, 1842 that beer whose pale colour and special taste of hops stands for the Pils that is now known worldwide.
At this point we would also like to clear up for once and for all the widespread barroom myth of the “7 minute rule.” Anyone who takes seven minutes to pour a Pils detracts from its attractive flavour. On the other hand, if it is poured in 2-3 minutes, you can still enjoy your Pils a quarter of an hour later, as it will still be fresh and foaming.
