Weissbier does not get its name from its appearance when poured. It is much more the case that the yeast that is used plays a very special role.

Almost all forms of Weissbier or Hefeweizen wheat beers are made using a top-fermenting pure culture of yeast. Top fermenting, because the yeast cells settle out at the top at the edge of the fermentation vessel in the course of the fermentation process and there form a characteristic white “cap”. It is precisely this natural biochemical spectacle that gives our Weissbier its impressive name.
